Makes ya wonder what other misinformation these people have. But it also might explain why gays (or any minority, really) are hated; a lack of understanding.

Maybe the thing these people fear most – educating children about gays and lesbians – is exactly what is needed. By understand that we’re really not that different from them, they might get over these ridiculous ideas about what it is that we do.

What’s going to happen when your digital device dies some day and you don’t have any physical media as source material? You’ll get your iTunes purchases back (apparently, but will there be a surcharge?), but what about that special CD you had that isn’t going to be available online? Better keep it.

And Brian better keep his CD’s, at least officially. The RIAA will get you if you keep saying you don’t own the original media anymore.

I can certainly see an e-reader replacing the newspaper and magazines: they’re disposable media anyway. (You can always use the weekly flyers to line the birdcage.) I don’t yet see myself switching over to e-books. I’d run out of battery life long before I’m done and I don’t want to take an expensive electronic device* on a plane, on public transit, to the gym or near water.

It sometimes seems that the trend is to buy a book and read it, then either donate it, garage sale it or pass it on to someone else. Same for CD’s. That seems very wasteful of resources, so I’m glad e-books and downloadable music is catching on. For video, it’s netflix or the video store or download, all of which save resources.

Instead of those models, I use my public library for reading. If the book is crap I haven’t lost money (even the $.99 for a cheap e-book). Plus, I rarely re-read a book unless it’s a reference or a how-to (including cook books).

* Prediction: when big-screen mobile devices become common, the big problem will become accidental or intentional breaking of those big screens. Think about all the abuse your watch face takes (assuming you still wear a watch) or how often you’ve dropped your cell phone. Maybe when they make waterproof Kevlar versions, they’ll be practical.
