When I said “Chris (f__k) was on the show” I really meant Pyro. For some weird reason, my brain mixes up their names. Please refer to Episode 91 with Pyro for more info about him and his twin.

On the subject of 3D:
I went to go see the 3D Lion King in the theater when it was released and it was definitely the best 3D movie I’ve seen yet. It was maybe the best movie experience I’ve ever had. I always loved the 3D concept, but I had been very jaded with the way movie makers had been just slapping 3D on crappy movies ::cough:: Green Lantern ::cough:: in order to boost ticket sales. I was blown away for the duration of the Lion King movie, mainly because the 3D was done very tastefully (nothing obnoxious).
I think the best way to describe it is to contrast it with the gimmicky 3D. Rather than the moving coming at you, the movie pulls you inside. It’s a subtle difference because the former discriminates the viewer from what is happening in the movie, while the latter immerses the viewer in the landscape of the picture. Another aspect that I think made it so special is that the incredible artistry involved with an animated picture is accentuated ten fold. You can’t help but feel that the amount of effort it must have taken to hand craft every detail of what you are seeing is mind-blowing.
Coming out of that, I was in the market for picking up a phone, and I ended up getting one of the 3D phones. Very cool that no glasses are required, neat pictures and watching video you record and seeing it played back almost the same exact way you viewed it the first time can be breathtaking.
Dave – I’m glad you mentioned Autoblog. BTW, have you read any of High Gear Media’s sites? Got a few colleagues over there doing their best over there.
SF Bear Weekend sounds like they’re using more social media to connect the dots. This is the future of bear runs. You’re right about how overly organized these runs have become. Guys want some places to go to meet, but would rather do it at their own pace at a reasonable cost. When you enter in social media to drive people to these places to meet, that makes things more instant and, to a point, intimate. My best to those setting this up. Should be fun!
The outtake – oh my!
For Episode 100 – make it big, lots of guests (Aaron Heier, Richard from R Gang, etc.)…surprise us!
Good show, guys!

OK. This whole thing of people acquiring new languages, accents or proclivities after a stroke or coma: if you dig deeper into each story the answers arise. The Skeptic’s Guide to the Universe podcast looked into the story of the Croatian girl who woke up speaking German. (http://www.theskepticsguide.org/archive/podcastinfo.aspx?mid=1&pid=249) Turns out, she spoke German early in her life, then acquired Croatian later. Coming out of the coma, the first language center in her brain that came online was the one that knew German. But she regained Croatian over time. I would guess that these guys who “wake up gay” were gay the whole time but were suppressing all natural expression of that. These medical incidents probably damaged the part of their brain that was doing the suppressing, which let the gay flag fly when they woke up.
I’ve had a Kindle3 for just over a year, and love it. It took me a long while to drink the Kool-Aid, but I am glad I did. I still love the tactile feel of a book, and will always buy, read, and keep some things in that format. But for casual reading, or popular fiction, or a non-fiction book on a topic I’m interested in but not obsessive about, it’s Kindle.
A lot of JP’s comments were spot on, but no one mentioned two advantages I find in the Kindle (and Sony) devices, i/e the ones that use eInk displays. First, any book can now be a large print book. This is huge for people who need large print format. A fair number of pop fiction titles are produced in large print format, but not all, and few non-fiction titles are. Second, the eInk displays are MUCH easier on the eyes for long term reading than the LCD displays, even the color displays of the Nook and new Kindle Fire (which does NOT use eInk). I realize that you young’uns (I’m 63) may not find those last two items of great import yet (just wait!
it’s coming!) , but for us older bears, it counts.
Love the show, keep up the good work, and say hi to Vito. And there’s an idea for the 100th… get Vito to do at least a guest spot. Do a video of JP preparing his favorite vegetarian appetizer. Have Brian lead you all in a vocal rendition of the “I’m A Lumberjack” song.
I’ll stop now.
